Awareness Through Movement classes
Awareness Through Movement classes are a unique opportunity to study and know yourself and to transform the habits of movement and posture that are causing you to suffer. This suffering may take the form of an injury or physical illness, and it can also take the form of depression and anxiety. When we engage the body with the mind and the mind with the body we heal both.
In an Awareness Through Movement class the lessons are like physical riddles that each individual must solve in their own way at their own pace. Solving the riddle is more about learning to be in the questions rather than coming up with correct answers. In this way the lessons teach you to become adaptable to the changing conditions of life. You learn to move and think with fluidity and everyday activities take on a different hue. You are then able to be in the world in ways that create less pain and strain and more comfort and joy. Life can be met with spontaneity and choice, rather than habit and compulsion. Qualities that people describe experiencing in an Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lesson are lightness, stability, flexibility, integration, expansion, grace and a profound sense of resting within themselves.
